Burnsville Resident and Others Honored
In today’s news-world where we are pelted with bad news, we are pleased to pass on GOOD NEWS! Burnsville Congressman John Kline, recently awarded a number of area residents a Congressional Certificates of Special Recognition at the “Star of the North” awards ceremony in Lakeville. Residents from Burnsville, Lakeville, Prior Lake, Apple Valley, Eagan, Farmington and more were recognized for special efforts they displayed in a number of different areas.
Burnsville Police Sergeants Rich Flaten and Don Stenger were recognized for biking 250 miles during the “Unity Tour” in Washington, D.C. to memorialize police officers who have been killed in the line of duty. When discussing the importance of remembering their fallen colleagues, on officer said, “They were doing what all officers are doing every day – unfortunately they paid the ultimate price.”
Lakeville residents, Hap and Charlie Stokes, were hiking Long’s Peak in Colorado, when they encountered a severe thunderstorm resulting in life threatening conditions. The Stokes helped 21 other hikers – many unprepared for the severe weather – survive until emergency responders arrived.
Congratulations to the award recipients from Cornerstone Mortgage and MN Home Loan Partners!
